CBFED: TWIN CITIES URBAN The Land Stewardship Project's office in South Minneapolis is working in the Twin Cities Metropolitan area to make sustainably-grown, local food available to urban residents from a variety of backgrounds. This worked is based on the philosophy that our urban and rural communities are deeply connected through food, and we are strongest when we work together. A truly sustainable food system is one that is not only grounded in stewardship practices and fair treatment of farmers, but also benefits low income people and communities of color. LSP is currently focusing on land availability issues for community gardens and urban farms. We recently helped a group of residents in South Minneapolis launch the Southside Star Community Garden, and continue to work with individuals, communities, government officials and other organizations to promote policies and relationships that ensure long-term land access for urban food producers.
