"When your diet is local it means that food becomes more than something that fills your stomach—it produces multiple economic, environmental and health benefits for our communities."
— Terry VanDerPol, western Minnesota farmer & Director of LSP's CBFED program

CBFED: WESTERN PRAIRIE

The Land Stewardship Project's office in the western Minnesota community of Montevideo has long worked to increase the production and consumption of local foods in the Upper Minnesota River Valley. LSP is working with farmers, retailers, processors, institutions, natural resource professionals, health care experts, policymakers and other organizations to make locally produced food a key part of local economic development, as well as a tool for improving human and environmental health. We are currently undertaking this work through the Upper Minnesota River Valley Buy Fresh Buy Local chapter and the Chippewa 10% Project.
