Farm Beginnings FamilyAre YOU Interested in Farming?

Farm Beginnings® is a Land Stewardship Project (LSP) initiative that provides participants a wide range of opportunities to learn firsthand about low-cost, sustainable methods of farming. Launched in 1997, Farm Beginnings is a farmer-led, community based training and support program aimed at getting more farmers on the land farming sustainably.

Through Farm Beginnings, participants:

  • Engage and network with a variety of successful, innovative farmers.
  • Attend practical, high quality seminars, field days and workshops.
  • Receive valuable planning resource materials.
  • Establish links with experienced farmers through LSP’s unique Farmer Network.

Farm Planning Tracks

You can begin laying the foundation for a career as a farmer by checking out LSP's Farm Planning Tracks page. There you will find resources that can help you assess your current skills while mapping out a three-year farm learning strategy for building on those skills, as well as gaining new ones.

Farm Beginnings Collaborative

The Land Stewardship Project is a member of the Farm Beginnings Collaborative. The Farm Beginnings Collaborative is a national alliance of independent regional groups of farmers and farmer-training support organizations working together to promote Farm Beginnings.
