On a warm Saturday in early October 2007, Land Stewardship Project members
came together to raise a barn for beginning farmers Brad and Leslea Hodgson. Todd Juzwiak of DreamAcres Organic Farm and Tillers International led the barn-raising, which included a special training session the day before. The event was more than a simple construction project -- it also celebrated LSP's 25th Anniversary, as well as a decade of work to get new farmers established on the land and in our communities through LSP's Farm Beginnings® program.
This event also provided hands-on, tangible help to a young farming couple that's working to build a sustainable future for their operation. The Hodgsons, who raise beef on grass near southeast Minnesota's Root River, are graduates of Farm Beginnings. To read more about Brad and Leslea, click here. We've included on this page a few photos from that special day.
It is not easy to raise a barn -- or stand up for justice. But Land Stewardship Project has always been about working together side-by-side for stewardship and social justice. We work hard together on the tough issues and the practical solutions. For the long-term work and the critical work immediately before us, please make a donation today of $40, $100 or $200 so that we can build for the future with confidence and strength. Click here to make a donation right now through our website (or to see instructions for sending a donation through the mail). Thank you for your commitment to the land!
