After suffering a defeat at the bites of cucumber beetles, we discovered an ideal organic pest control method for our garden -- guinea hens! They devour a lot of insects without scratching (like chickens do). They also are prolific egg layers and 2-3 times a summer they'll hatch a brood of keets and lead them around the garden as they forage for food.

We’ve lived in our current home since 1996, and the field next to us has been in a steady corn/beans rotation. This year, for the first time, the farmer planted rye on half of it. |
