3) FARM GROUPS PUSH FOR POLICY THAT MEETS THE '96% TEST'

Farm groups, allies and key legislators announced Jan. 10, 2005, support for legislation aimed at helping beginning dairy farmers, strengthening the anti-corporate farm law, devoting more resources to innovative livestock production, and defending the powers of local government. The groups, including LSP, also called for legislative leaders to make sure that state policies to promote livestock in Minnesota pass the "96 percent test." For details, visit http://www.landstewardshipproject.org/pr/05/newsr_050110.htm.

4) BIOSCIENCE PUBLISHES MULTIPLE BENEFITS OF AG PAPER

The Multiple Benefits of Agriculture initiative, a research project coordinated by the Land Stewardship Project, has produced a major peer-reviewed paper. The January 2005 issue of BioScience includes "Multifunctional Agriculture in the United States," by George Boody, Bruce Vondracek, David A. Andow, Mara Krinke, John Westra, Julie Zimmerman and Patrick Welle. Boody is LSP's Executive Director, and Vondracek is a member of LSP's Board of Directors. This is the latest documentation of farming's multiple positive benefits that the Multiple Benefits of Agriculture initiative has produced. 6) 2005 CSA DIRECTORY IN THE WORKS
In February, LSP will be producing its annual Twin Cities Area CSA Directory. This is the ninth year of this popular publication and copies are distributed via mail and the Internet. Many farms report back to us that the directory helps them recruit members while educating the general public about the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. If you are planning on operating a CSA farm in 2005 that will service the Twin Cities area, we'd like to invite you to be included in our 2005 directory. The listing fee is $20 for LSP members, and $30 for non-members. These fees go toward the costs of producing and mailing the directory, which is provided free to consumers. To be listed in this years directory email Karly Turner at kturner@landstewardshipproject.org. If you are a consumer who is thinking about joining a CSA farm in 2005 and can't wait until February to learn more, you can download the 2004 directory now from www.landstewardshipproject.org/foodfarm-main.html. For information on getting a paper copy, call Louise Arbuckle at 651-653-0618 or e-mail her at lspwbl@landstewardshipproject.org.

A gathering for CSA farmers will be held in the Twin Cities area on February 17. Please call the White Bear Lake office at 651-653-0618 for more information.

7) UPDATING THE STEWARDSHIP FOOD NETWORK LIST
We are also in the process of updating Land Stewardship Project's Stewardship Food Network, which is a listing of LSP members who direct market food products and retailers that purchase from local farmers. If you were listed in the 2004 Network you will be getting a notice to review and update your profile shortly. You may access the 2004 Stewardship Food Network at: http://www.landstewardshipproject.org/foodfarm-main.html#SFN

If you would like to be listed in the 2005 Network, and were not listed in 2004, please contact Olivia via e-mail at olivia@landstewardshipproject.org or by telephone, 651-653-0618 ext.202.
