Protocols

Land Stewardship Project Monitoring Toolbox   Includes section on monitoring invertebrates as well as stream physical habitat and water quality.  Especially useful for farmers or landowners with streams.  Housed in the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture Home Page.

Save Our Streams  The Isaac Walton League's protocol that is widely used by school teachers and citizen groups.

Rapid Bioassessment Protocol  The US EPA's protocol for stream monitoring.  Has 3 different levels of difficulty and depth of information to choose from.

Riverwatch  The Mississippi Headwaters Board has produced this protocol.  Invertebrates are only one component of a host of monitoring tools.

Washington Virtual Classroom Water Quality Monitoring Module  Educational materials to set up a water quality monitoring program, especially good for teachers.
