SAINT PAUL, Minn.—Farmers, consumers and legislators will come together over delicious locally-produced food during the Land Stewardship Project’s Second Annual Family Farm Breakfast at the Capitol Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. The breakfast will be across from the Minnesota state capitol building in Saint Paul at Christ Lutheran Church, 105 University Avenue W. This event is open to the public and the cost is $8. To reserve a spot and for more information, contact Rachel Long at 612-722-6377 or rachel@landstewardshipproject.org.
As he did for the inaugural Family Farm Capitol Breakfast last year, Chef Brad Beal will prepare a breakfast that includes fresh eggs, bacon and sausage straight off the farms of Land Stewardship Project members.
Speakers at the event include Sen. Jim Vickerman, Chair of the Senate Ag Finance and Policy Committee; Rep. Mary Ellen Otremba, Chair of the House Ag Policy Committee; and Rep. Al Juhnke, Chair of the House Ag Finance Committee.
This breakfast will provide an opportunity for lawmakers and the general public to learn how state policy can benefit family farmers, community-based food systems and environmental quality. Citizens are encouraged to invite their legislators to meet them at the breakfast. There will be an opportunity to stay afterwards to lobby at the capitol for policies that promote family farms and local foods.
